Girls Basketball Team reach Cumann na mBunscol Final
Well done to the senior girls basketball team who reached the final of the Cumann na mBunscol league on Wednesday 7th February, playing Kill NS. The girls played a closely contested game sadly losing out to a late basket and free shot in the dying seconds of the game. The girls represented the school with great pride and sportsmanship and each received a runner-up medal. They will now go on to participate in the Cumann na mBunscol Basketball Blitz on March 1st, in Kilcullen. On Wednesday the 7th of February 2018 the 6th class girls basketball team were in the big schools basketball final in Scoil Naomh Uilig against Kill. Caragh got off to a great start with two baskets from Leah McGovern. Going into the second quarter Caragh led 4-0. Kill came out strong in the second quarter and led the game 7-4 heading to half time. In the third quarter Caragh battled hard to level the game with a great score from Sianna Cawley and a fine free throw from Leah McGovern. It was all square going into the final quarter. Leah McGovern kicked off the final quarter with a superb basket from far out. Kill levelled the game moments later and following a time out in the last minute of the game they scored again followed with a free throw to see the game finish 12-9 in favour of Kill. Congratulations to Kill and to the Caragh girls who fought and fought to the very end. The girls would like to say a massive thank you to their coaches Ms Dowling & Ms Kelly.
